Glovo and Visa Join Forces to Empower SMEs with Online Training Program

Glovo and Visa have partnered to launch an online training program aimed at empowering small-to-medium enterprises (SMEs). As part of Glovo’s Glovo Local initiative, the program offers a series of video courses designed to support aspiring and growth-minded business owners, particularly those with 10 or fewer employees. Covering various business topics such as digital payments, marketing, and money management, the program aims to equip SMEs with the necessary skills to thrive in an increasingly digital world. Available across nine countries in southwest Europe and Africa, including Spain, Portugal, Kenya, and Nigeria, the initiative targets over 40,000 SMEs.

The partnership between Glovo and Visa comes at a crucial time for SMEs globally, facing challenges such as complex regulations and inadequate digital infrastructure. Leveraging Visa’s expertise, the program seeks to provide timely support to SMEs on their digitalization journey. Building on a successful pilot program conducted in Morocco last year, which included in-person workshops and masterclasses, the online training courses have been curated based on feedback from local partners. By collaborating with Glovo, Visa aims to reach and empower a broader spectrum of sellers, facilitating their growth and success in the digital economy.

Carl Manlan, Vice President and Head of Social Impact, CEMEA, Visa, highlighted the importance of providing services at scale to support sellers worldwide. Through visual training options and strategic collaboration with Glovo, Visa aims to help SMEs overcome the challenges of digitization and capitalize on the opportunities presented by e-commerce and digital payments. The partnership underscores a shared commitment to fostering economic empowerment and entrepreneurship, ultimately contributing to the growth and sustainability of local businesses in regions like Africa.
