Carrefour has unveiled its self-checkout service at the Hub store in Karen, Kenya. This initiative, pioneered by Majid Al Futtaim, was first introduced in the country in March of the previous year, catering to customers seeking a more independent shopping experience.
Designed to streamline the shopping process and alleviate the inconvenience of long queues, this service is specifically tailored for shoppers with fewer than 15 items. In a bid to enhance convenience, Carrefour aims to empower customers to manage their purchases autonomously, bypassing the need for cashier assistance.
This move underscores Carrefour’s ongoing dedication to delivering seamless shopping experiences. By eliminating the necessity for traditional checkout procedures, customers can save time and sidestep the frustrations associated with waiting in lines.
The Hub store becomes Carrefour’s third location in Kenya to offer the self-checkout service, following its successful implementation at the Westgate Shopping Mall store and the Village Market. Furthermore, the self-checkout lane accommodates various cashless payment methods, including Mpesa, debit/credit cards, and MyCLUB loyalty points.
