TomTom and Microsoft joined forces to create an AI-powered conversational assistant designed for vehicles, enabling natural voice interactions for infotainment, location search, and vehicle commands. Utilizing Microsoft’s Azure OpenAI service alongside various other services, TomTom developed this innovative voice assistant, which isn’t limited to their Digital Cockpit but seamlessly integrates into diverse automotive infotainment systems. Taco Titulaer, TomTom’s finance chief, highlighted the company’s significant investment in generative AI, dedicating resources to further develop this technology.
Moreover, TomTom expanded its services by introducing an LLM plug-in for ChatGPT, allowing users to leverage their mapping technology to plan trips and explore new destinations within the chatbot.
