At MWC 2024, Oppo unveiled a prototype for its next-generation assisted reality glasses, the Oppo Air Glass 3. These XR glasses allow users to access Oppo’s AndesGPT model through a smartphone, offering a unique AI experience.
Oppo highlights the multimodal AI technology embedded in the XR glasses, capable of understanding various data types such as text, images, video, and audio. This technology enables the XR glasses to process and interpret complex user scenarios, thereby enhancing voice and visual user interactions.
The purpose of the Air Glass 3 prototype, according to Oppo, is to explore the potential of AI technology through cross-device collaboration between XR devices and smartphones. Weighing a mere 50 grams, the Oppo Air Glass 3 boasts a self-developed resin waveguide with a refractive index of 1.70. Additionally, it features a display brightness uniformity of over 50% and a peak eye brightness exceeding 1,000 nits. These specifications ensure that the Oppo Air Glass 3 provides a comfortable wearing experience similar to that of regular glasses while offering an exceptional full-color display.
Users can access Oppo AndesGPT through the Air Glass APP on their smartphones, requiring only a light press on the temple of the Oppo Air Glass 3 to activate the AI voice assistant and perform various tasks.
Moreover, the XR glasses 3 support touch interaction, enabling users to control functions such as music playback, voice calls, information display, color image browsing, and more with ease. Additionally, the glasses feature reverse sound field technology, an open acoustic design with four microphones, and other innovations that enhance noise isolation, delivering high audio quality and improved privacy protection.
