TikTok’s Add to Music App expands its launch to 163 new countries, including Kenya

After a successful launch in 2023, TikTok has expanded its Add to Music App feature to 163 new countries, including 41 countries across Sub-Saharan Africa such as Kenya and Nigeria. The Add to Music App allows users to save the songs they discover on TikTok to their preferred music streaming services, contingent on availability.

This feature is designed to enable music enthusiasts to capture and save their favorite songs discovered on TikTok, making it convenient to enjoy them later on their chosen music streaming platforms. Users can find the “Add Song” button next to a track name at the bottom of a TikTok video in the For You Feed, encouraging them to save the song to their preferred music streaming service. Upon the first use, users can select their preferred streaming service, and the track is saved to a default playlist. Users can also opt to add the track to a new or existing playlist of their choice.

Once the Add to Music App feature is used for the first time, the chosen music app becomes the default for future track saves. However, users can modify their default music streaming service at any time in the settings. Additionally, users can utilize the Add to Music App feature directly from an artist’s Sound Detail Page.

Isaac Bess, Global Head of Distribution Partnerships at TikTok, expressed, “With Add to Music App, we are streamlining the music discovery experience for both TikTok users and artists.” He emphasized the positive impact of this feature on music discovery, helping more tracks gain recognition and become hits. The expansion of this feature aims to provide millions more users around the world with enhanced opportunities for music discovery, consumption, and artist promotion.
