Selected Startups for Britam’s BetaLab Incubation Programme Revealed

Britam’s innovation hub, BetaLab, has unveiled the six fintech startups selected for its 12-week pre-incubation program. This initiative is designed to nurture startups that demonstrate exceptional potential in addressing market needs within the finance and insurance sectors, specifically through InsurTech and FinTech solutions.

Support and Acceleration

The pre-incubation program aims to provide these startups with the necessary tools and support to scale their businesses. Britam’s Director of Partnerships & Digital, Evah Kimani, expressed enthusiasm about the collaboration, highlighting the innovative solutions brought forth by these startups. “Their innovative solutions have the potential to transform the financial services industry and improve the lives of Kenyans,” Kimani said.

Intensive 12-Week Journey

The 12-week pre-incubation program is designed to accelerate the growth and development of the selected startups. Upon completion of the program, the top three performers will be eligible for further incubation within the BetaLab program. This intensive journey is intended to equip the startups with the skills and resources necessary for scaling their ventures.

Partnership with Senior Talent

The program is conducted in partnership with Senior Talent, an organization that connects seasoned business executives with startup founders. This collaboration aims to tackle business challenges and accelerate the development and growth of the startups. Senior Talent Chief Executive, Nduati Maina, emphasized the importance of resilience and innovation in entrepreneurship. “BetaLab aims to empower these six startups to overcome challenges, create impactful solutions, and foster economic prosperity while inspiring a new generation of entrepreneurs,” Maina stated.

Selected Innovators

The startups selected for the program include:

  • Zereba: A super app that simplifies real estate transactions and offers a deposit-free rental marketplace.
  • Amsha: A technology-driven platform creating innovative savings solutions tailored for young adults.
  • Adapo: A fintech platform dedicated to empowering SMEs and startups through equity crowdfunding.
  • Chamazetu: A digital platform revolutionizing the management of “chamas” (informal savings groups) in Kenya.
  • Pesaflex: Provides a secure and cost-effective bank-to-bank transaction solution to enhance payments for MSMEs.
  • Medicod AI: Utilizes advanced AI to optimize medical coding and billing processes within healthcare and insurance sectors.

These startups represent a diverse range of innovations poised to make significant impacts in their respective fields.
