Empowering Zambia,Community Digital Transformation Centers Unveiled

Zambia plans to establish Community Digital Transformation Centers (CDTCs) nationwide, aiming to boost the digital ecosystem. These hubs, utilizing a partnership with Starlink, offer free internet access, digital skills training, and online services, especially in rural areas. The initiative seeks to address Zambia’s low internet penetration and digital divide, with a focus on fostering innovation and entrepreneurship. The government allocates $13 million for the first CDTCs, emphasizing collaboration with the private sector and civil society. Challenges include ensuring sustainability, relevant training, local content development, expanded connectivity, and effective monitoring. Despite challenges, the initiative holds promise for empowering various groups and driving societal and economic transformation.
