Jobtech Alliance Adds 8 New Platforms to Enhance Employment Opportunities in Africa

The Jobtech Alliance, guided by Mercy Corps and BFA Global, has unveiled its second cohort of platforms aimed at connecting Africans with high-quality job opportunities. This expansion addresses critical issues such as high unemployment, a growing youth population, and barriers to economic inclusion across the continent.

Strengthening the Alliance’s Reach

With the addition of these eight new platforms, the Jobtech Alliance now boasts a portfolio of 17 jobtech platforms across seven African countries. These platforms are designed to create job opportunities for youth, enhance employment quality for workers, and support underserved groups, including women and refugees.

Commitment to Enhancing Employment Opportunities

Michelle Hassan, Co-director at the Jobtech Alliance, expressed enthusiasm about the initiative, stating, “We’re thrilled to double down on our efforts with another cohort of jobtech innovators improving access to decent employment across Africa. By building an enabling ecosystem, we can improve livelihoods across the continent.”

Support and Investment for New Platforms

Each of the selected platforms will benefit from investment capital, tailored venture-building support, and expert advisory services. Additionally, they will have opportunities to scale their platforms through the Alliance’s expanding cross-sector partnerships. This initiative is part of the Jobtech Alliance’s broader strategy to engage with numerous jobtech platforms and stakeholders across Africa in learning and community-building activities.

Diversity and Innovation in the New Cohort

The newly selected platforms include Selar (Nigeria), Opareta (Uganda), Mwingi (Kenya), Instollar (Nigeria), CatalyzU (South Africa), and Goodayon (Ethiopia), as well as Afriwork (Ethiopia) and Gwiji (Kenya). The variety of these platforms highlights the sector’s diversity, ranging from solar installation services to influencer networks and agent networks.

Ongoing Commitment to Job Creation

The Jobtech Alliance remains dedicated to fostering a thriving ecosystem to support and improve sustainable job creation across Africa. The overarching goal is to transform lives and elevate the quality of work throughout the continent.
