Termii Secures $3.65 Million Funding to Accelerate Francophone Africa Expansion

By leveraging messaging channels, Termii enables businesses to verify and authenticate customer transactions. With a track record of supporting over 10,000 businesses across various sectors, the startup offers messaging tools that not only enhance customer engagement but also streamline the verification and authentication processes.

The funding round was led by Ventures Platform, with participation from prominent investors such as FinTech Collective, Launch Africa Ventures, Nama Ventures, Aidi Ventures, Ralicap Ventures, Now Venture Partners, Vastly Valuable Ventures, NOA Capital, Assembly Investors, Probability Ventures, Adamantium Fund, MyAsia VC, Uncovered Fund, Afropreneur Angel Group, as well as notable angel investors Aubrey Hruby (Tofino Capital) and Eamon Jubbawy (Onifido).

The newly acquired funds will enable Termii to expand its presence in Francophone Africa, with a particular focus on Ivory Coast. Additionally, the startup plans to enhance its suite of innovative solutions, primarily through its mobile app solution called “TermiiGo.” TermiiGo is Africa’s first cross-company mobile virtual solution available in multiple African countries, comparable to Google’s Voice and Authenticator, Twilio’s Authy, Whatsapp Business, and Skype Business.

TermiiGo, accessible on both Google Play Store and the Apple Store, offers features such as direct-to-mobile notifications, rich SMS messaging, time-based one-time passwords (OTPs), and affordable local and international calling for enterprise businesses.

Emmanuel Gbolade, CEO of Termii, expressed his excitement about the funding and emphasized the company’s commitment to transforming customer engagement in Africa. Gbolade stated that the support from esteemed investors who share their vision of empowering businesses to engage and support customers across the continent is a significant milestone for Termii.

Dr. Dotun Olowoporoku, General Partner at Ventures Platform, highlighted Termii’s game-changing role in the A2P (Application-to-Person) messaging space. The platform’s seamless integration of telecom services addresses the high message failure rates and complex setup requirements faced by businesses across Africa. Olowoporoku expressed confidence in Termii’s mission to revolutionize communication on the continent and the excitement to partner with the exceptional founding team.

Samantha Wulfson from FinTech Collective praised Termii’s solution as a fundamental piece of infrastructure powering day-to-day operations for many African businesses. Wulfson acknowledged the startup’s ability to ensure the delivery of OTPs and transaction-related messages with a higher degree of certainty, highlighting that Termii is just scratching the surface of its vision as a communication layer.

Termii remains committed to driving innovation, expanding its presence across Africa, and enabling businesses to effortlessly engage and support customers. To support this commitment, the company has initiated Termii Elevate, one of Africa’s first startup and developer outreach programs. The public launch of its flagship mobile products is scheduled for Saturday, June 24, 2023, at The Zone Tech Park in Gbagada, Lagos, Nigeria.
