A report by the Tanzanian news outlet, The Citizen, revealed that students of the prestigious University of Dodoma exhibited a pioneering AI program that would ease the process of transacting business for local entrepreneurs.
The AI tool has been designed to be multi-faceted in assisting small and midsize enterprises (SMEs) in handling processes from record-keeping to report generation and book-balancing, amongst other functions.
“The program assists small business owners in managing their digital business operations without prior knowledge,” Ms. Rose Joseph, the head of the ICT department stated.
She made the announcement during the 4th e-Government Annual General Meeting, which was put together at the Arusha International Conference Center.
The ICT students at the university are also heavily invested in creating digital solutions that would aid in tackling the cybersecurity issues the country faces.
These students recently took home the prize for the 2024 ‘Cyber Champions,’ competition, further highlighting their prominence in the country’s tech field.
The win was very significant, considering that the competition hosted over 700 contestants from more than 40 tertiary institutions.
Additionally, more than 50% of the 50 finalists were students of the University of Dodoma, as 31 of them made it to the last round.
