iSchool Raises $4.5M Funding for MENA Expansion & Global Growth in Ed-Tech

iSchool, an Egyptian ed-tech startup established in 2018, has secured $4.5 million in funding aimed at accelerating its expansion plans across six additional countries in the MENA region and establishing a presence in Ireland. Founded by Mohamed Algawish, Mustafa AbdelMon’em, Ebrahim Youssef, and Mohamed Nabil, iSchool specializes in offering live gamified classes led by coding instructors for students aged 6-18. The curriculum covers various tech domains like AI, VR, app development, game development, and web development.

With over 26,000 live learners, delivering more than one million training hours, and boasting of over 10 million lines of code written by its students, iSchool has collaborated with 35 schools. Their initiatives in Egypt, Saudi Arabia, and the United Arab Emirates have led to managing national-level programs. This recent funding round of $4.5 million was led by VentureWave Capital, an Irish VC, alongside investments from OneStop Capital UK, Webit Investment Network, and Oraseya Capital, the VC arm of the Dubai Integrated Economic Zones Authority.

The investment will facilitate iSchool’s expansion into new MENA countries, establish its global presence in Ireland, and involve building a team in Dublin. Additionally, it will aid in technological scaling for their online coding platform and pave the way for extending their gamified online classroom app service into Sub-Saharan Africa. Mohamed Algawish expressed enthusiasm about the involvement of experienced investors and highlighted their contributions in supporting both current initiatives and future expansion plans.
