LG Academy Enhances Technical HVAC Expertise in Kenya

LG Electronics (LG) aims to train 37,000 individuals globally in 2024 through its Heating, Ventilation, and Air Conditioning (HVAC) systems program. This initiative aims to build a skilled network of installation and service engineers capable of supporting LG equipment worldwide, as the brand continues to grow in popularity.

Comprehensive Training Program

The LG HVAC Academy operates across 62 locations worldwide, offering comprehensive training on LG’s residential and commercial HVAC systems, including advanced technologies like high-efficiency chillers. In Kenya, the LG HVAC Academy partners with the University of Nairobi to enhance the skills and knowledge of local technicians. This partnership ensures optimal setup and performance of LG’s HVAC solutions, crucial for delivering exceptional customer experiences.

Facilities in Nairobi

In Nairobi, the LG HVAC Academy features integrated showrooms and training rooms where participants gain hands-on experience with LG products. Beyond installation and maintenance training, the academy introduces new HVAC solutions and conducts specialized regional programs, technical forums, and customized on-site classes at client facilities.

Strategic Vision

James Lee, head of LG Electronics’ Air Solution Business Unit, emphasized the academy’s role in enhancing engineering capabilities globally. “The LG HVAC Academy plays a key role in enhancing the capabilities of engineers in each region,” he stated. “We are committed to increasing customer engagement to deliver greater value and propel our global HVAC business forward.”

Market Growth Strategy

LG aims for significant growth in the global HVAC market, valued at approximately USD 58.4 billion in 2023. The company focuses on its high-efficiency heat pump HVAC systems, designed to meet electrification and environmental trends. This strategy includes catering to industries such as AI data centers and semiconductor plants, where effective heat management is critical for maintaining operational efficiency.

Future Outlook

Looking ahead to 2030, LG plans to more than double its revenue from residential and commercial HVAC businesses, solidifying its position as a leading global provider of air conditioning solutions.
