Visa Cardholders to Win Carrefour Shopping Discounts

Visa has teamed up with Carrefour to offer Visa cardholders exclusive discounts and giveaways. The campaign is set to reward cardholders who make purchases on weekends at participating Carrefour stores. Customers spending KES 5,000 or more will be eligible for assorted giveaways, while online shoppers using the Carrefour app will receive KES 500 off on orders of KES 4,000 or more. This promotion runs until August 18th for in-store purchases and September 15th for online orders.

Enhancing Shopping Experience

Eva Ngigi-Sarwari, Visa’s Country Manager for Kenya, expressed excitement about the partnership: “We are thrilled to be partnering with Carrefour to reward loyal Visa cardholders and enhance their shopping experience.” She highlighted that this initiative is part of Visa’s broader strategy to improve payment experiences at key retail partners and drive digital payment adoption across the country. By integrating Visa’s advanced payment solutions with Carrefour’s extensive retail network, the campaign aims to offer a seamless and satisfying shopping experience.

Carrefour’s Commitment to Convenience

Christophe Orcet, Regional Director – East Africa at Majid Al Futtaim Retail, emphasized that the partnership aligns with Carrefour’s commitment to added convenience and value for customers. “By leveraging Visa’s seamless payment solutions and our extensive retail network, we aim to offer customers a truly rewarding shopping experience,” Orcet noted. The initiative underscores Carrefour’s dedication to meeting the evolving needs of its shoppers.

Growth in Payment Transactions

This campaign also seeks to capitalize on the rising number of transactions at point-of-sale (POS) terminals and online platforms. According to statistics from the Central Bank of Kenya (CBK), card transactions at POS terminals reached nearly 5 million in February 2024, up from 3.9 million in February 2023 and 3.66 million in February 2022. The growing trend in digital transactions highlights the increasing adoption of card payments in Kenya.
